Each year in late January or early February, the South Texas Charity Quail Hunt
is held in Kingsville. This is a first class event consisting of a
cocktail party on King Ranch on Friday night, quail hunting on Saturday
morning, hunting camp lunch at noon Saturday, rest on Saturday
afternoon, dinner and live auction on Saturday night, and brunch at the
King Ranch pool house on Sunday morning.
The South Texas Charity Quail Hunt raised over $1,000,000 for charity
in 2008. It is a fun time
and is held for a great cause. I guide a group of hunters on our
lease on the Saturday morning hunt.
Here are some pictures from the 2007 hunt. It rained all night
and stopped just before we hit the field. You will notice a lot of
mud on the trucks. Many hunting parties spent more time digging
the trucks out of the mud than they did hunting. By noon there was not a cloud in the
sky and the weather was beautiful.
These pictures were made at the noon camp lunch held at one of the
pasture camp houses on King Ranch.
